The kangaroo

Aims:
To understand the numbers from 6-10 and to work with simple additions.

Main part:
The game takes place in the playground. The teacher divides the pupils into groups of 6. Each group forms a circle and they pretend they are kangaroos. They turn around and sing: “We are six kangaroos standing on our feet, none of us is crawling”.

Then one pupil crawls while the others are still walking on their feet and sing: “ We are five kangaroos standing on our feet, one kangaroo is crawling, so one plus five is six”.

Then another pupil crawls and the others sing: “ We are four kangaroos standing… two kangaroos are crawling so two plus four makes six” . And so on..
