Aims:
To see that the quantity of 100 can look different.

 

Materials:
Four bowls of the same size, beads, matches, peas and clothes pegs.

 

Introduction:
Divide the class into four groups. Give one group a bag of beads, the second group gets a bag of matches (or small toothpicks), the third group gets a bag of peas and the fourth group gets a bag of clothes pegs.

Main part:
Now the different groups are going to put one hundred of their things in to their bowl.
When everybody is ready, the children will go around to the other groups to see that the quantity of one hundred appears different. The bowls are differently filled to the rim.

Roundup:
The pupils should be able to see that the quantity of one hundred can look different even though it is the same amount.
