Age:
6-7 years old

Aims:
To work with the decimal positional system.

Materials:

• Two buckets labelled "Tens" and "Units"
• Pieces of paper with the numbers from 0 to 9 written on them to be placed in the buckets.

Introduction:
The teacher shows the two buckets to the pupils and explains that the blue one represents the tens and the other one the units.

Main part:
In pairs, the pupils go to the front of the class and take one piece of paper from each bucket, then they write on the blackboard the number they got. The other pupils copy the numbers in their notebooks.
