MAIN SQUARE OF MONELLS
IThe
main square named Plaça de Jaume I was right in the centre of
an old quarter surrounded by walls. It has the form of an irregular
rectangle. The north side consists of 6 arcades above which stand
the houses, whereas the eastern side houses the Town Hall with
a gothic trefoil window. In front of this building 2 new arches
that copy the former ones have been added. While lime was mainly
used for the arches, uneven boulders were employed in the building
of the façades, which date back to the XIV-XVth. centuries.
