ST.
JULIÀ DE BOADA
This church, which is firstly mentioned in a document in 994,is
one of the most notorious and well-preserved pre-romanesque monuments
of The Baix Empordà. It consists of a nave and a trapezoidal apse.
On the façade there's a single splay window fitted in an arch
formed by uneven sandslabs. The same material applies to the walls.
There's a special particularity about the nave and that is its
irregularity, visible both from inside and outside the building.
From the inside there's a lack of adjustment between the chancel
and the nave (on a lower level). On the other hand, small sand
slabs unevenly placed-almost in an incipient "opus spicatum" form
cover the floor.
