RUPIÀ CASTLE
The
first time this castle is mentioned in a document is in 1268,
although it's believed there could have existed a former fortress.
This castle or bishop's palace is an extended and rectangular
building situated in the centre of the village. The façade which
outlooks the square reveals the intersection of 2 former attached
T-shaped buildings. On the northern wing there's a Gothic window
built into small round arches devoid of either column or capital.
On the other hand, on the eastern side there is another Gothic
window with trefoil arches whose columns and flowery decorated
capitals are perfectly-preserved. Small and medium-sized slabs
were evenly-matched.
