“Food Culture and Health”

::Català::

This year we have completed the two-year planning for the development of our Comenius project, entitled "Food Culture and Health". We have worked together with schools in six European countries: Germany, Finland, France, Iceland, Italy and Catalonia.

The issue of food has been developed from several points of view, but always turning around the cultural habits of eating and the influence of these habits on our health..

Teachers and students from different subjects in our school have participated in the project. The Art Department has designed bookmarks, ceramics, photographs, etc.. The Social Science subject has dealt with the cultural and social side of food. Science subjects have studied the good and bad effects that food can have in our health. The English Department has been particularly involved in the drafting and presentation of all the work done by other subjects. Most of the tutors and the school staff have also participated in promoting positive attitudes towards food and the values associated with it.

This year we have welcomed several foreign partners in our city. Among the many activities organized at our school we would highlight the organization of a supper which have deeply involved students, teachers and parents. In the kitchen of our school the representatives of each country prepared some specialties of their own traditional food.

There was also time to visit the main monuments of Lleida and its surrounding area. More linked to the theme of the project were the visits to the facilities of the business of processing fruit in the Nufri factory in Mollerussa and the Oli Museum in Borges Blanques.

One of the final products of the project will be the publishing a cookbook with recipes and the gastronomy of each participating country.

All the people who have taken part in the project value positively these kind of exchanges, because, beyond the work on the project-there is a personal enrichment for our students and the project gives an European dimension to our learning process, which is very necessary today for our educational system.
