immigrants approached New York harbour, the sight of the impressive Statue
of Liberty was an emotional experience remembered for life
Lady
Liberty, as the statue is sometimes called, was a gift from the French commemorating
the American Revolution and the French sculptor Bartholdi worked on it for
two decades until it was finally unveiled in 1886
Its
height is 93 metres and 354 steps lead from the entrance to the crown. The
seven rays in the crown represent the seven seas
