SRL metodologia.
Since 2006, IES Josep Vallverdú, from Les Borges Blanques is participating in a Comenius 3 network called LTE “Learning and Teaching (foreign languages) on the Basis of Innovative Methods and ICT”. 16 European members are involved in this project which “aims to develop new strategies that should enable students to become self motivated and autonomous learner”, as Dr Josef Meier, the coordinator of the project claims.
A European research is being carried out to improve learning and teaching (of foreign languages) and to reduce stress for teachers and students. It consists on several material related to suggested methods in order to reduce stress and therefore, improve learning. The teachers get scripts that they should work with during the school year. After having worked with the suggested methods for a couple of weeks they receive a questionnaire which the students fill out. The questionnaire consists of 12 short tests of 15 – 18 questions which cover the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar.
There are already results obtained from some German schools, where the research was carried out. The 54 teachers who participated in the research stated that “it was not an additional piece of work they had to do but both teachers and students turned it to profit while practicing these innovative and stress reducing means”.
The most relevant topics involved are:
-
Reducing stress and exam nerves
-
Improving concentration
-
Learning how to use relaxation techniques
