2.- BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE (BEV)

2.1- MAIN PARTS OF THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE

This is a conceptual scheme of the main components which compose an EV: in this vehicle, the electric motor has the task of inducing kinetic energy to the wheels from electric current, which is supplied by a group of onboard batteries that store this current in form of chemical energy. The flow of electricity from the storage system to the engine is commanded by the control device, which is formed by human-controlled mechanisms (i.e. the acceleration pedal) and electronic implements, such as current converters. When those batteries become depleted, they can be recharged from the electric network being plugged in it.
