World Geography

With this on-line activity you are going to learn the geography of the world: continents, countries, rivers, cities, etc. You will have to get the information you need from a website and then write the answers on a worksheet. There are some games offered on our page that will also be helpful.

Follow these instructions:

Start the Google Earth program on your computer. Take your time to get familiar with it if you aren't yet. There are a lot of things you can do with it. Tick the navigation panel open and check the different functions included there (terrain, borders, roads, tilt, north, etc.). With your mouse you can manipulate the world to make it turn faster but also you can zoom in and out of places if you rotate the wheel in the mouse. "Play with the world” for a few minutes. When you are ready, have a look at your worksheet and you can start filling it in with the right information.

Here is an example of the chart you have to fill in:

1. LET’S MEET A CONTINENT.

Follow the instructions and complete the chart with the correct data.

Find a continent in the world.

Tick the borders square and all the continent's borders will appear on screen but no country names will.

Identify the different countries in the chart and then get the information you need by placing the cursor on the capital city of each country.
