	The Steam Machine

TIPS FOR TEACHERS

This on-line activity has been adapted from pbs.org. Your students are going to play an interactive game in order to learn how a steam machine works. In order to run the game you will need the Adobe Shockwave programme. Then they have to follow the steps in their worksheets very carefully and do as they are told.

First of all, as a warming up exercise, they are asked to think about the different uses of a steam engine in our everyday lives.

Then, they must link to the website and get familiar with the different parts of the machine and their use in order to fill in a table with the data. They will find the information by browsing the pictures on the website.

Finally they are asked to read the operating instructions carefully -actually they must write them down in their worksheets- before they play the game, which is very simple.
