Aims:
To elaborate sequences of numbers according to given mathematic law in investigation and sequences of numbers and table charts;
To solve problems in mathematical contexts, adapting and understanding different strategies and assessing results;
To develop the reasoning and mathematical communication, formulating and testing conjectures, processes and ideas justifying and explaining results;
To communicate orally and in writing , using the natural language and mathematical language, interpreting, expressing and discussing results, processes and mathematical ideas;
Materials:
Presentation: sheet of paper with the problem
Exploration of the task: colour pencils and pens.
Pupils' presentation: parchment paper and drawing paper and colour pens by each group of work.
Introduction:
Oral explanation of the work to be done in the classroom - 10 minutes; |
Split up the students in groups composed by four pupils each;
Delivery of the materials;
Silent reading of the task carried out by the groups;
The teacher clarifies some important questions that may arrise after the reading of the task
Exploration of the task made by pupils 15 min. pair work
Discussion of the task 55 min large group
Final Synthesis 10 min . large group |
Main part:
- Exploration of the task carried out by the pupils; |
- Pupils presentations : 1 sheet of parchment paper, drawing paper and colour pens by each group;
- Pupils purpose the resolution of the task;
- Discussion of the results in large group/ class;
- Contents systematization;Roundup:
- Pupils should solve the task autonomously but under the supervision of the teacher.
-Thus, students will be the builders of their own learning since they are responsible for the acquisition of knowledge.
- Pupils can easily solve out this activity and the conclusions that they achieve allows them to acquire some knowledge of the main mathematics issues. |
- Clarification of some main concepts/ main questions to be made :
- To find out the number of phone calls made by any number of people using a timetable because there is always one person who doesn't call anybody ;
- Rule to find out the number of phone calls made by pupils: combine all the numbers starting from zero to the previous number of students.
- The most efficient work strategy is the table. |
