Aims:
To recognise the use of multiplication in a context of patterns related to fractions.

Material:
Pasta, glue and paint

Introduction:
The teacher hands out the material and explains to the pupils that the first thing to do is to form a cross, then to form crosses at each end of the original cross such that the arms of the new crosses are half the length of the original one.

Main part:
The teacher then asks the pupils to complete the third part of the activity, as seen in the photographs.

Round up:
The pupils show their fractals to the rest of the class.
Observations:
Despite the complexity involved in the concept of fractal, the pupils are able to complete the task.
