Yunus Emre Primary School

The school opened as Karaman Secondary School in 1932 in a government building. The high school was added in 1955. Both secondary and high school continued in same building. In 1966 they separated and the high school department moved to a new building. The secondary school, our school, stayed in the same place and continued as an independent secondary school. After the opening of Karaman Anafartalar Secondary School in 1972 and as Yunus Emre was born in Karaman the name of our school was changed to “Yunus Emre Secondary School”.

Due to the poor state of the old school building, the school moved into the building of Karaman Trade High School. The old building was pulled down and was reconstruction began in the same place in 1981. The new building was completed and opened again in 1987. Since 1997 the school has also catered for primary school children under the name of ‘Yunus Emre Primary School'.

Our school building has 4 floors. It has got a large playground where the pupils can play all sorts of games. The school building has got: 18 classrooms, a kindergarden, classrooms for art, science and computers, a gym and a sports hall, a library and a canteen, a staff room and an administrative area.
