THE AMPHITHEATRE

It is a construction with an oval ground plan. They are two opposite theatres.

In the amphitheatres spectacles as gladiators fights, wild animal fights and naval combats took on.

An amphitheatre is composed of:

-The arena: it was the central space where sruggles took on.

-The subterranean spaces:  They were construccions and rooms below the arena.

-Thea cavea: it was a place made by rows where spectators sat down. Rows were divided in  three sections, depending on the nearness of the arena: prima cavea (the most closed to the arena),  half cavea, summa cavea (the most distant and the highest sector).
