Aims:
- To understand and use rational numbers as quotients or part-whole relations

- To represent a fraction of a non-negative rational as a finite decimal number

- To use mental and written calculation strategies

- To develop mathematical reasoning and communication

- To compare and order rational numbers represented in different ways

Materials:
- Worksheet;

- Paper sheet size DIN A3;

-Pencil and rubber

- Transparency films;

- Overhead Projector Pens

- Overhead Projector.

Introduction:
•  Explanation of the work to be done in the classroom;

•  Four groups composed by four pupils each;

•  Delivery of the materials (worksheet and paper sheet size DIN A3);

•  Silent reading of the task carried out by the groups;

The teacher clarifies some questions that may arise after the reading of the task.

 

Main part:
•  Exploration of the task carried out by the pupils;

•  Each group presents on a paper sheet size DIN A3 or transparency film what they propose as a resolution of the task;

- Discussion of the task in the large group/Class;

- Contents systematization;

       

Roundup:
Class discussion of the findings of each group.
